Rate Information:
There are various
types of postage rates available - First Class, Standard Mail,
Periodicals, etc. Based upon the type of piece you are mailing
and size - the rates will vary.
First
Class Rates -

of the USPS for First Class are:

Min. weight -
None; Max. weight 13 oz. (over 13 oz it becomes Priority Mail).

Min. quantity -
500 pieces

If weighs 1 oz or
less, depending upon shape may be subject to a nonmachinable
surcharge
First class mail can be cards, letters, flats or parcels (see
below for information on these pieces)

Some of the things mailed through this method are

Standard (Bulk) Mail can take approximately 10 - 12 days to be
delivered.
Automated
Rates for Cards/Letters - more restrictions are placed
on pieces that will be mailed via this method. Based upon the
USPS standards the following standards are in place:

Min. quantities
are - First Class - 500 pieces, Standard Mail - 200
pieces.

Delivery point
barcode in the address block or in the barcode clear zone

An address list
that has been checked and CASS-certified within the last 180
days.

Complete address
with Zip or Zip+4

Specific shape and
size

Less than 3.3
ounces
-
No polywrap,
polybag, shrinkwrap, clasps, string, buttons, or similar closure
devices.
Automated
Rates for Flats/Nonletters - Lower rates are available
for flats/nonletters, but these must be within the guidelines set

Mail
Pieces Information:
Mail Pieces can
include letters, postcards, periodicals, etc. Below are some
guidelines based upon USPS rules. For more information you can
visit the USPS site.
Postcards
-
For First-Class postcards, the restrictions are (based upon the
USPS)
Postcards larger than the above sizes are mailed at the Letter Postage
Rate and the thickness increases to 9 pt for a minimum.. Maximum card size for this is 6 1/8" x 11 1/2" x 1/4" thick.
Larger than that and you are charged a flat (nonletter) postage rate.

Letters

Sizes for letters - #10 envelope. You can also use various other
sizes of envelopes or a piece that will be designed to be folded down
to letter size. The USPS requirements for the piece to be
eligible for letter mailing are:
If creating a piece that will be folded down to letter size - USPS
recommends that you seal it with a wafer seal or tab - with the seal
being placed on the top side of the piece.
Large
Envelopes and Flats (Nonletters)-
Includes large envelopes, newsletters and magazines. Based upon
the USPS - these pieces must:

Periodicals

Includes Newspapers, Magazines and other publications that go to a
subscriber list. Must be printed min. 4x per year. Min.
Weight - None. Max. Weight - 70 lbs.
